Serpentine Sackler Gallery to open in September

The opening date is now known. The Serpentine Sackler Gallery designed by Pritzker prize winner Zaha Hadid will open to the public on September 28th, 2013.

House in the Magazine, a 200-year-old former gunpowder store five minutes walk to the north of the main gallery in Kensington Gardens, it will be the first permanent building of the architect in London.

The directors, Hans-Ulrich Obrist and Julia Peyton-Jones explained that it will host 4 exhibitions that are not going to be in addition to the current program but complementary to it. One will be able for instance to listen to audio walks commissioned to artists when going from one building to the next.
